mount baker

Yesterday took Papa Bear out for ride #2 of the summer and caught a straight-on view of Mount Baker, which I never see in my day-to-day due to the obstructionist nature of the terrain. Thinking about how I never think about Mount Baker, except for the old tale of the kid who called it "Mountain Baker." Today caught the news about how the forest fire smoke plumes are so high that Whatcom people thought Baker had erupted.

Saturday, August 26—Toodling up the arterial to get some brush at the auto parts store to use for the Pity Cruiser’s annual outside car washing and spy some incredibly cool and low-slung car coming the other way. Can’t make out what it is, but I’ve never seen it before. That day, on the Speed channel, Tivo recorded a "Great Cars" episode about the Aston Martin, which is what the car was.

saturday, august 19–woke up thinking "i gotta ask anne for some bamboo to support my recycled fence trellising for the dutchman’s pipe along the fence." anne called 2 hours later to ask if i wanted any bamboo.

sunday, august 20–gardening all day, abba stuck in my head. not usually the case while gardening, i might add. late at night while working on terminology i flick on public television and catch the documentary of abba’s grind on the road.
